Review: Korres Black Pine 3D Eye-Lift Super Serum

We love having a good eye cream / serum, right? DEFINITELY. It’s a key part of any skincare regimen. A good eye treatment will: 1) nourish your skin, 2) hydrate it to make it plump, 3) help remove dark circles, 4) reduce eye bags. So here are my thoughts on the Korres Black Pine 3D Eye-Life Super Serum.

Full disclosure, I received this product for review on my Instagram page.

Initial thoughts, I am obsessed with how the packaging is designed. The bottom gold panel is actually a platform button. So when it is standing upright on a flat surface, you press down the entire bottle and the gold panel goes into the rest of the tube, pressing up a small bit of the eye serum out the top. I have never seen any other packaging quite like it! I also love how sleek the packaging it. It feels so, so premium, and that is something that I definitely want in a $59 product.

On the texture, it is very liquidy. It is not an eye cream, that is for sure. Think of it more as like a face serum that you would normally use, but now just for your eye region. It’s a pearlescent white fluid, as you can see in the picture here! I did notice that it was a bit tacky while using it, which I have largely attributed to the xantham gum and tamarindus indica seed gum. They are meant to keep the product from being too liquidy and just running everywhere, so I understand the purpose. But I noticed that on my eyelids, it weighed them down and made them stick to the top part of my eye lids too. Monolid problems, I suppose! Once it is applied and rubbed in, it is matte. Even though it has a slight shimmer to the product, it does not leave any weirdly noticeable brightness after application. This is important to me because sometimes I look like a clown with some eye gels because they leave a trail of glitter behind!

For the ingredients, it has a pretty extensive list. Some key callout ingredients include black pine extract, dill extract, and oat kernel extract. These are important for antioxidants, reduction of fine lines, and increasing skin’s resiliency. It also has a ton of plant metabolites including darutoside, which helps with collagen production and reduction in inflammation. Another one of those plant metabolites is epigallocatechin gallate, which is a catechin (AKA things you’ll find in green tea and matcha — another one of my loves!). If you are ever interested in reading why matcha is amazing for skin, you can read this article and also this post from my friend Shane! I did notice that the region around my eyes were extremely well hydrated from extended use of this product. Honestly so many plant ingredients that it is so hard for me to cover all of them here! I guess that makes sense since it is included in the Black Pine collection! I only used it at night because of the stickiness problem that I encountered. But from nightly usage for a couple weeks, it has been pretty good for me! I can’t speak to eye bag reduction and darkness under the eyes because I just don’t have much of a problem with those areas (and hopefully won’t any time soon!).

Overall conclusions: I like the product. It’s very lightweight and it moisturizes well. I don’t think I would purchase it after this is finished though. I think I prefer something that I can use both daily and nightly. But since this is too sticky for me to use during the day, it’s a dealbreaker for me. Nightly, it is a win though!

What’s your favorite eye cream or eye gel? I would love to know!
