How to Daytime Slug with Combo-Oily Skin

Slugging is low key all the rage right now, but it shouldn’t just be limited to your nighttime routine. No, I’m not telling you to put Vaseline on in the morning (but if that floats you boat, PLEASE continue!). Let me introduce you to a new occlusive moisturizer I’ve discovered works perfectly for my combination-oily skin. It’s the Cocokind Resurrection Polypeptide Cream (RPC).

Let’s Match Product Preferences

I’ve used a plethora of creams: from runny and liquidy ones to thick balm-like occlusives. I normally gravitate towards lightweight liquidy or gel cream type formulations for daytime usage. That is until I discovered the Cocokind Resurrection Polypeptide Cream. It’s definitely liquidy, but it is THICK. I swapped my normal Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer for this and never looked back.

Keep in mind, though, that I have been known to be promiscuous with my daytime moisturizers. I’ve used and trusted Sunday Riley’s CEO Afterglow, Allies of Skin’s Daily Peptide Treatment, Tatcha Water Cream, and so many more. They all have a weightless feel with a moderately dewy finish. But they all work perfectly for a combo-oily skin type. So if you’ve been a loyalist to one of those moisturizers, I am very happy to introduce you to your new favorite moisturizer you haven’t yet met.

Cocokind RPC Changes the Game

Cocokind Resurrection Polypeptide Cream punches above its price point. It is only $27 for 1.7 oz (the standard moisturizer size). That’s half or even less of the price of many of my favorite aforementioned creams for my skin. The low starting point is just my first favorite part of the cream.

The texture of PRC is amazing. It can literally be poured out of the jar, which is such a unique experience since most creams stay put. This super spreadability means it doesn’t need that much to actually go across your entire face.

The feeling after application is moisturized but not suffocated. You certainly feel it on your skin—which is in stark contrast to a gel cream or other lightweight lotions. However, it does not lead me to break out, and it does not lead me to get excessively oily throughout the day. In fact, it does the complete opposite. It makes a perfect protective barrier.

Because it spreads so easily, it makes it the perfect daytime slugging moisturizer. It seals in every last bit of your hydrating serum and the nutrient-packed eye cream you used. It also has the added benefit of protection from environmental stressors since they would have to get through the occlusive barrier before hitting your skin. Plus, it has key ingredients like peptides to improve skin’s firmness, squalane to increase moisturization, resurrection plant extract for deepened hydration, and watermelon seed oil for antioxidants.

It also works well with makeup and has no pilling. It plays well under skin tints and foundations—and most importantly, sunscreen! I use it under my favorite SPF: Summer Fridays ShadeDrops, and it leaves the most perfect dewy finish.

Final Thoughts

Oftentimes, products from Cocokind are hit or miss for me. However, this one is for sure a hit. It’s the perfect last step of my skincare (before SPF), and my skin feels moisturized throughout the entire day. I always recommend this product to anyone looking to get a little bit more moisture into their skin during the drier winter months. My only qualm about it is the liquid texture makes it somewhat difficult to use since you have to dip your finger into the cream, instead of scooping it out. It gives Dairy Queen dipping vibes.
