Let me preface this with the fact that I don’t have the biggest eye bags. I don’t have the darkest circles. Heck, I don’t even really have eye bags in the right light. But I am probably my biggest critic. I see all the eye bags every time I open up my camera for a video call at work, every time I wash my hands and check the mirror, every time I post a story on my Instagram. But I finally found THE eye product that actually got rid of my eye bags and tightened the skin up around them. Without further ado, it’s the Allies of Skin Peptides & Omega Firming Eye Cream ($75).
Yes, it is true that I am devoted to Allies of Skin. My favorite cleanser ever? The Allies of Skin Molecular Silk Amino Hydrating Cleanser. Not only is it a great facial cleanser, but it doubles up for a versatile makeup remover that plows right through SPF, foundation, basically anything. I’ve been a big fan of the Allies of Skin products for a while, but this is the one that I find myself recommending to people over and over—and also why it is constantly sold out. That’s why I was not shocked to find that the Peptides & Omega Firming Eye Cream was one of my favorite eye treatments! For reference, my favorite one before was the Biossance Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream. So it is saying a lot for me to find one that works even better!
Allies of Skin Delivers the Results We All Want
We’re all here for the data, so here we go! After two weeks of using this product twice daily (pretty much all other facial skincare treatments the same as my usual), I noticed visibly different eye bags. I just used a single pump (I honestly use one pump of any skincare product because I assume that is the prescribed dosage and never actually stray from it). In the individual pictures, I didn’t really see a difference. However, when you check them side by side, the changes are drastic. Dare I say, dramatic.
For a zoomable, larger picture, check out my Instagram post. As you can see, the pictures were taken in the same natural lighting scenario, around the same time. They are also in the same background. However, what you don’t see anymore is darkness under the eyes. There’s also significantly less puffiness. Shocked. That’s what I am.
In terms of the texture, I did notice that this played decently well with layering. I did not see any pilling while I put on my other layers of skincare (my nighttime routine has 3x toners, 3x serums, 2x eye treatments, 1x moisturizer, 1x facial oil, 1x facial spray, 1x overnight mask). It’s buttery, but not thick. The Saturday Skin Yuzu Eye Cream is almost butter and THAT is thick. But this AOS eye product is a little more than an eye gel but definitely not a thick occlusive type product. However, I will say that during the day, I noticed that scratching the undereye region made some of the product come off in a pilly manner. I don’t know if it is because I just use so many products or what, but it is definitely a noticeable thing. It doesn’t bother me since I am trying to stop touching my face so frequently!
What Key Ingredients Are Giving These Results (and Giving Me Life)
In case the photo testimonials were not enough to convince you to buy the product, let’s dive into the ingredient lists. [And no, I am not trying to convince you to buy it—I don’t even get commissions or affiliate links! I am just so shook by the results.] So into the ingredients: the key ingredient callouts for this product are much more extensive than their other products. I normally see like 5 or so ingredients listed on their webpages. Instead, I counted 13 ingredients with many of them being multi-factorial ingredients meaning that they have different ingredients inside of them.
What the key ingredients are:
Hyaluronic Acid: We been knew. This is the one ingredient we all know and love for hydrating and plumping skin.
Squalane: If you’ve been following me for a while on IG, you’ll know that I love me some Squalane, particularly that of the sugarcane variety. It’s an excellent hydrator, moisturizer, and skin brightener.
Bakuchiol: This is the plant-based retinol / phyto-retinol that you didn’t know you needed. It has similar results to retinoids, but it is gentle enough to be used daily without any sun sensitivity. That makes this product OK for use during the day and night!
Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate: It’s one of the most stable, effective vitamin C forms. It’s also great for acne, side note!
Methylglucoside Phosphate + Copper Lysinate/Prolinate: I have NEVER heard of this in my life. This supposedly supports aged cells and enhances rejuvenation. Skin is firmer, more supple, and the appearance of fine lines is improved. Sounds good to me!
Matrixyl Morphomics: Another one I have never heard of! It’s modified peptides that help skin reduce wrinkles, particularly those that make you look sad.
Orchid Stem Cells: To be honest, I feel like the jury is out on plant stem cells and how they actually help in skincare. Yes, I do believe that the stem cells can have good lipids, peptides, nutrients, and antioxidants for your skin to take up. However, I don’t know if I am convinced that the signaling molecules from plants will signal to your skin to regenerate. They feel like different chemical languages, so I want to see some evidence-based articles on this first before I make any dramatic leaps into the world of plant stem cells
Many, many others! But these were the key ingredients that I thought would have the largest impact and drive the changes in the eye darkness and eye circles.
Final Verdict: I Would Purchase Again
So after using the product for longer, I have decided that this is a product worth re-purchasing. Even though it is $75, it lasts a while and you should be able to get some great uses out of it. Barring that, you get very rapid results. Believe me, I was shocked to see the Allies of Skin Peptides & Omega Firming Eye Cream perform as well as it did. I was in the school of thought that eye creams, eye serums, and eye gels did nothing but spend extra money. They do add some extra hydration, etc, I will agree. But I have never seen a dramatic improvement like I have with this.
